Kalambayi Andenet was born and raised in Ferguson, Missouri and joined the Uhuru Movement in response to the 2014 police murder of Mike Brown.
Today she leads the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement, building chapters throughout the U.S.
In St. Louis, President Kalambayi is known as an outspoken activist in defense of the African working class.
InPDUM’s weekly Sunday rallies bring together musicians, neighbors and activists, reviving the rich cultural legacy of black St. Louis. She is currently leading a campaign to “Keep 28,” fighting against ward reduction and gentrification of the black community in St. Louis. She is also growing the economic self-sufficiency of the organization through the Uzi Custom Clothing line.
